Collaborators: Elia Kazan, Arthur Miller, and Marilyn Monroe
|Venue:||Black Box at the Wertheim Performing Arts Center|
FIU drama students and others will be presenting a staged reading of Collaborators: Elia Kazan, Arthur Miller, and Marilyn Monroe, a new play by Richard Schwartz. Dr. Schwartz is a Professor Emeritus with FIU and has published extensively on the 1950s and on American culture during the Cold War. Collaborators shows how the artistic collaboration between playwright Arthur Miller and director Elia Kazan – the most successful of their generation – was torn asunder by Kazan’s decision to “collaborate” with the House of Un-American Activities Committee during the 1950s Red Scare and by their relationships with Marilyn Monroe.
