Our Common Future Series: The Arctic in Global Perspectives
|Venue:||Graham Center West Ballroom|
The Arctic region is changing at an accelerated rate that has not been experienced by modern humankind. While the wilderness remains a prominent part, the Arctic and its peoples are experiencing tangible realities from climate change, melting ice, increased industrial activities, and development of the region’s natural resources.
In the School of Environment, Arts and Society’s inaugural Our Common Future lecture, Dr. Robert Corell, a global climate scientist, will discuss the consequences of interactions between regions of the Northern hemisphere and the Arctic on climate change, ecosystems, human health, and development, and the potential impact on Arctic countries, and the rest of the world, including South Florida. This event is free and open to the public.
