Public universities face major shifts in funding, governance and curricular mission. As market ideologies and populist notions of accountability take root in academic life, questions arise about the function of public universities:
What is the life of the mind? Why does it need protection? What limits should be placed on using market-based corporate models to organize a university? How much say should external constituencies have on what a public university does? This event is free and open to the public.
